The institutes are a means or bringing bring-ing to the fanners the best that 1 to be learned in the agricultural colleges, and though the tillers of the soil gather together for but two or three days at a time twice a year, the practical and helpful talks and valuable suggestions of the station Instructors and successful farmers' from different parts of the state, one or more or whom arc usually on the program, the good done can not be estimated. As stated In the clipping, the farming Industry Is becoming a respectable calling and remunerative. Tim farmers' Institute in Indiana Is of such high order, that hundreds or men and women engaged in other capacities attend the meetings and enjoy them no less than the farmers themselves. The meeting arc elevating, elevat-ing, Instructing, ennobling and the fanners of Utah are missing an opportunity oppor-tunity in not Insisting on having Institutes In-stitutes with competent lecturers and Instructors. A two days meeting twice a year, or even once a year, at which subjects pertaining to the best Interests of the farmers their trials and tribulations, best methods of pro-iliictloii pro-iliictloii nnd marketing, hogs, cattle. rtwop nntl ffiii?tnl farnitt'Qrk tire discussed would be productive of great good. Let there be a little music, vocal and Instiumental, recitations, etc., Interspersed through the day programs and at night let there be an excellent literary and musical program, pro-gram, with one lirst-class speaker. Such Is the common method in Indiana, and It will be admitted that In no state In the Union are farmers' Institutes more helpful and Interesting. |
