An election elec-tion will bo held on May 25th to decide the matter. John Dees of Weston was In Logan on Monday. Mr. Dees Is the son of the old bear hunter John Dees, who lived In Providence in the early days, and who will be remembered by the old timers. John Decs Sr. was a noted bear hunter who has faced and killed many grizzly bears In his day. His nerves were like steel and In his encounters he always came out captor. The Fish and Game Warden of the county was out on Sunday with a force of men gathering In the trout from the canalsfrom which the water had been( turned for the purpose of cleaning the ditches. Nets and screens were used to catch tho little speckled beauties, so they would be uninjured. We commend com-mend tho warden for his diligence In this matter. Heretofore boys have been allowed to spear and fork the lisli, thinking that all fish in the canals when the water was out, was their property. Dr. and Mrs. Cartwrlght received a telegram Sunday to the effect that their son, Dr. Harry Emeis, had won the diamond medal given by the Baltimore College of Dentistry for the best scholarship. When it is known that Dr. Emeis has been very ill during dur-ing the past two months, his triumph appears all the more creditable. The young man was one of Undo Sam's soldiers in tho Philippines during the late war, and while there contracted stomach trouble, from which ho has ncer ceased to suffer. During the past six weeks, tho Dr. has been con- " lined to his bed practically all of the : time, going to tho school against his physician's advice, and taking the examinations. Dr. and Mrs. Cart-wright Cart-wright are, naturally enough very proud of the young man's achievements, achieve-ments, and are anxiously awaiting his return to Logan, which will be in two or three weeks. |
