Show That Lumber Deal Again. Careful Investigation leads to the knowledge that the lumber now being be-ing "culled" In the canjon, Is being cut out, not because of any faultlncss in the quality, but because of Its width, or rather lack of width. A certain portion of the lumber was sawed rather wide, and a portion somewhat narrow. That of the proper width Is now being used and the narrow will be used as the pipe nanows, wnlch It will do as the work Is pushed this way. The haggling of the Demoeiatlc organ about this lumber Is becoming ridiculous, and there Is now on foot a plan to give It telephonic connection with the canyon can-yon woikers that they may explain In minute detail the appearance of every boaid handled. Why doesn't the city sell the lumber lum-ber If It Is woilh $40? Simply because be-cause Major Hansen made his trip to Oregon to get the best lumber at the lowest price and it would be foolish fool-ish to sell the same now at any price. There Is positively no reason for this continued haggling about these little details, and it clearly shows the extiemltles into which the proposition proposi-tion Is thrown. |
