State depart ment records fall to show officially that enough states have acted favorably fav-orably upon tho Income tax amendment amend-ment to Insure Its ratification, because be-cause tho officials of sovoral states that havo recently acted Jiave failed to send In their certificates. Tho department de-partment today telegraphed to tho governor of Now Mexico that it could not rccognlzo tho telegraphic announcement of tho ratification of tho nmendment nnd called for his formal certificate. Tho department has taken notice or tho fact that some of tho stato legislatures which were oxpected to act upon tno nmendment during theli" present sessions havo nbandoncd that purpose becaitso 38 states had already al-ready acted favorably but tho depart ment Is hopeful that nil of the states will record themselves In order to In-suro In-suro a safo margin for the amendment amend-ment In caso of irregularities. |
