Show D. W. WORKING TO ATTEND ROUND-UP Word has just been received by Dr. E. G, Peterson, director of the Extension Division of tho Agricultural Agricultur-al College that D. W. Working ot the division of Farm Management, U. S. Department ot Agriculture, will be at the Round-up on the date of February 5 to talk during the evening eve-ning session on the work ot the value val-ue ot the country agent. The Agricultural Col lego has made arrangements to co-operate with the U. S. Department of Agriculture in the employing of experts to look after af-ter tho proposition of better farm management throughout the state and Mr. Working Is coming to ar-rango ar-rango deflnitel the affair with the offlclals at Logan. Mr. Working comes as a substltuto for tho Hon. J. W. Splllman, who unfortunately Is too 111 to nttend. Mr. Splllman Is the chief of this department de-partment under the Federal Government. Govern-ment. Ho Is thoroughly acquainted with conditions hero In tho west, having dovoted a considerable portion por-tion of his time to arranging this de-dnrtment, de-dnrtment, not hero In Utah alone, but also in adjourning states. This Is without doubt on0 of the biggest things which the Federal Gov eminent has jet done for tho state. Tho division of farm management means purely nnd simply thnt experts ex-perts who have been trained In tho vn Ions features of business management manage-ment will mako comparative siirvoys of the various farma within tho county coun-ty or district In which they aro placed plac-ed to labor and by comparisons nnd discussions they will endeavor to bring tho lowest typo ot farms up to a higher average, approximately more nearly to those of tho higher standard. on0 of tho chief causes which had lead to the heavy migration migra-tion of farm boys to the cities throughout the past few decades Is undoubtedly due to the lack ot business busi-ness training manifested by those having the farms In charge, and It Is to correct this evil and to glre to the farmers the latest and most up-to-date findings 'in the successful management of tho farms that the government and the College are Instituting In-stituting this new departure. That It will be thoroughly appreciated by the farmers of Utah goes without say Ing. |
