Show GOVERNOR ODDIE URGES CHANGE IN DIVORCE STATUTE Nevada Executive Recommends Year's Residence; Speaks For Suffrage Carson City, Nov., Jnn. 20. Gov. Tasker L. Oddlo today presented his message to tho Nevada legislature In which ho makes a number of radical rad-ical recommendations. Among other things be advises a law requiring t year's residence In the state to secure se-cure n divorce Instead of six months nnd a law limiting tho number of rounds In a boxing bout. The chango In the divorce law he says should go Into effect January 1, 1914. The fundamental need of the state, he says, Is a revision of the system of taxation and next In Importance, ho believes, is the perfection of the governmental system In the Interests of economy nnd efficiency, maintaining maintain-ing that retrenchment should bo applied ap-plied to city nnd county governments as much ns to state government. Pointing out that Nevada Is surrounded sur-rounded by stntes which havo given women suffrage, the governor urges the ratification of an amendment giving giv-ing them the right to vote In Nevada Ho nlso recommends tbnt congressional congres-sional resolution providing lor the election of United States Benntors by direct vote bo given tho approval of the legislature.
