Show ZION FIRE CHIEF CHARGED WITH THE DEATH OF GIRL Salt Lake City, June 9. W. H. Dywater, chief of tho Salt Lake firo department, whs suspended from ofllco of-llco this evening by unanimous vote of the city commission, pending Investigation In-vestigation following tho filing ot a charge against him, as a result ot the killing of little Elaine Pautson last wook. A' complaint was issued by tho county attornoy today charging By-water By-water with Involuntary manslaughter. A coronor's Jury held an Inquest on Saturday and returned a verdict charging Chief Bywater with being responsible for the girl's death on account ac-count of "reckless driving and without with-out propor regard for human life." Chief Bywater has been confined to his quarters in the flro station slnco tho nccldent suffering from a nervous shock, and Justice of tho Pcaco Harry Har-ry S. Harper arraigned him thero tonight on the charge of Involuntary manslaughter. Owing to the chief's condition, he whs permitted to remain re-main in hla quarters without bond. |
