Show BRIGHAM TO HAVE ITS OWNJHONES Hrlgham City, Sept. 1. Brigham City Wll probably have a municipal telephone system to add to her already al-ready extensive public utilities. The committee, composed of Messrs J. D. Peters, Nels Jenson and R. A. Mad-L Mad-L sen, appointed some months ago to jfc make a thorough investigation as to " the advisability of Brigham City owning Its own system, reported thru j. D. Peters to the city counsel at Hs meeting last 'week. The report went Into detail on the matter and was favorable throughout to the Installation of an exchange by the city. The report also called attention at-tention to certain articles contained In the franchise granted to the Independent Inde-pendent Telephone company, which gave the city the privilege at any time to purchase the entire system of that company contained within the lim'ts of the city. The committee suggested that perhaps It would yet be possible to purchase the local exchange ex-change from tho Mountain States company If the people saw fit to do so In preference to building a new system. Tho committee held that this right would undoubtedly still hold good Inasmuch as the Mountain States company bought out the Bell company the company that purchased the Independent Inde-pendent company, Including franchls-' eB. The matter will be further discussed dis-cussed at a mass meeting to be called soon, and If the citizens are agreeable agree-able to thg proposition and the necessary' nec-essary' capital can be secured the city will likely take steps toward the Installation. |
