Show Logan City's I New Council What It Did In Its First Straggle With Affairs. .The new city council hold Us hrst business session Wednesday night, the entire number of councilmen and Mayor Edwards being present. It was expected that Mayor Edwards would present his entire list- of names for appolntlvo position, but ho was content con-tent to let four republicans out of olllce, their successors being as follows: fol-lows: Policeman, C. F. Martlneau. Policeman, Ezra Eamcs. Ilealth Offlcer, T. II. nudge. Sanitary Inspector, Geo. D. McCul-loch. McCul-loch. The policemen are said to be the selection of Marshal Peterson. Both Martlneau and Eamcs have served as special police at different, times and the marshal says ho selected them because be-cause of their efficiency. Council Committees. Pros. Cardon aud various others petitioned tho city council to give to the promoters of a general hospital In this city that small plat of ground on tho bench known as the reservoir site. A committee com-mittee composed of Councilmen Llnd-qulst, Llnd-qulst, Carlson and Evaus investigated the matter and reported in favor ot granting the request of the petitioners providing construction on the hospital hospi-tal is begun within the year. The council referred the matter to City Attorney Sneddon that he might Investigate In-vestigate the legal phase of the gift. The plat of ground referred to is Just east of the temple grounds and comprises com-prises about six-tenths of au acre. The people who are promoting the hospital hope to secure as a situ for the structure that large plat of ground on which now stand the temple barns. It Is proposed to remove the temple barns and sheds to the reservoir site and surround them with a growth of trees. This hospital, by-thc-way, is designed to bo a 950,000 struoture In which many of tho prominent men f northern Utah and southern Idaho are interested, their names and pledges already having been secured. The ten free 'phones furnished tho city officials by the Bell Telephone Co. were ordered changed to the various var-ious homes and business houses of the new incumbents.
