H Arrangements have been completed fl for a rousing meeting of mayors aud H other city officers of the state to con- H venc at the Cilv and Countv building, H Salt Lake Cltyon the loth nnd Kith of H this month. This movement Is Indeed H a step toward civic Improvement, and H It is hoped that a permanent organlza H Hon will be effected that will result In H a united effort for the betterment of H conditions In the cities and towns of H Second aud third class cities arc Just H now verging upon a time when their H first substantial ImpiovcmcntH are to H be undertaking. By organization they H will get the bencllt of larger cities' ex- H perlence In methods of assessing special H taxes nnd licenses and tho best ways H to proceed In effecting Improvements. H Ordinance of the various cities arc H now without harmony. State laws H relative to cities and towns are imper- H feet. Some cities own and conduct H public utilities, while others do not. H Part of the cities proceed with high M license, a few with prohibition and B some with low license. All these ex- H pertinences could not but result In H good IT exchanged. It Is an opportunl- H ty, and the officers of our cities and H towns should take advantage of this M meeting, it means more Mian M maors It means every departmcrit'of M city government.
