Show Smithfield. SMITHFIELD, April 1 -On Wet'-nesday, Wet'-nesday, March 27, the members of the First ward sui prised their chorister, E. 11 Lundqulst. About llfty pcop'o met at his place and took him by surprise sur-prise in earnest. Four large tables weie set with all the nice things that the land produces. After supper Mr. Lundqulst was presented with a beautiful beau-tiful rocking chair as u token of respect re-spect and esteem, the presentation being made by Dlshop Miles, who In his pleasant and able way said many nice and appropriate things of Mr. Lundqulst, Other speeches were made by Samuel Nelson, J. J. Mclkle and It. H.Thornley. The evening's enjoyment wound up at a late hour, everyone feeling feel-ing glad to think they had been lucky enough to be there. Those present Mr. and Mrs. E II. Miles, Samuel Nelson, G. Y. Smith, J. J. Mclkle, Fcljstead, Alma Llttledyke, J. I-'. Hll-Hard, Hll-Hard, George Doan, Harper Hill, Jos. Watts, Frank Purser, Win. Mather, Alfred Alnscough, H. H. Thornley, John Pitcher, Mrs. Laura Ilaymond, Mrs. Heath, Mis. Samuel Crawford, Mrs Alice Doan, Mrs. Magglo Tout, Calvin Corbet, Delos, eeman Heath, Mrs. Donnle Health and Mrs Kirk Harris. Sunday night Mr3. Robert Thornley fell or walked oil a foot bridge at the depot and hurt her leg so badly that she had to bo taken homo in a buggy. This Is the fourth person that has fallen at this samo p'neo and It seems that some ono Is to blame for allowing such a place. Continued neglect may result in some one getting hurt seriously. seri-ously. A railing or something of that kind might prevent It. . The Smllhlicld drug store has changed hands again, a gentleman from Salt Lake having bought It. He appears to be a perfect gentleman and the people here wclcomo him to our town, as well as all others who may ulsh to locate here. Mrs. Crawford returned to Ilrigham od Thursday after a pleasant visit with her sister, Mrs. It H.Thornley. |
