Show REXBURG. RKXHURG, July fi.lOOU.-Our crops which have been so backward during tho spring months are being brought to the front by the warm weather we are having the last few days. Tho high water tjf tho rivers havo not yet passed and as a consequeeco, wc have an over abundance of water In our canals and no one can complain of shortage of water for Irrigation. Dur-ihg Dur-ihg the rainy weather wo have had tho beets'became very weedy In places but tho little brown men from Japan by their Industry have them all cleaned clean-ed and thinned and they arc growihg nicely. It is said that the best beets In tho Rocky mountains grow in Fro-inont Fro-inont county. Most of the new business blocks built -this season aro now occupied. Our city Is a surprise to many of the visltois that come to us. During tho last year six business blocks have been built of choice cut stone. The stono quarries aro located on the hillside near our city and owing to the quality of the stone and easy access to the same nearly all buildings are being erected from cut stone,. The Fourth was celebrated at Sugar City. Hy invitations, Roxburg citizens joined them In doing honor to Independence Inde-pendence day. A splendid oration was glven by Piofessor J. II. Paul, of tho University of Utah, and many expressions ex-pressions of appreciation of tho samo were heard. The baseball game how-over how-over was a disappointment to many. Tho visiting team from Ogdcn failed to put up an Interesting game for our boys, tho "Red Sox." A lousing time Is assured at Rex-burg Rex-burg on tho Twenty-Fourth. The Eureka and Park City teams will both play our homo team on that date. This season, notwithstanding that our home team aro all our own home bovs, wc havo tin strongest team In eastern Idaho. They havo already beaten Idaho Falls and Pocatcllo. K (Torts aro being put forth to out-do even our celebration for the Twenty-Fourth Twenty-Fourth of last season. Tho Japanese aro engaged to give exhibitions of their remarkable wrestling contests, and many other Important games are scheduled for that date. Our first crop of alfalfa will be light this season. Tho cold weather had kept it back, and In some places there s:ems to be a kind of rust upon It. For, tho dry farmers tho season has been an Ideal one. The present out look Is that there will be a yield from 35 to CO bushels per aero.
