Job Plngree, of Ogden, followed with a short talk on the best time to plant beets and the best way to prepare the soil to get the best results. J. E. Taylor, of Salt Lake city, took subscriptions sub-scriptions for the Descrct Farmer. The Farmer's Association will meet next Friday to adopt constitution and by laws. A committee waited on Hyde and Plngree presenting a demand for 2, higher price for beets, asking $4.50 per ton and a chute and platform (or loading load-ing beets. The matter will be laid before be-fore Mr. Eccles, of the Amalgamated Sugar C01, for final decision. This decision Is expected at an early date. Theofticersof the new organization are: Wm. L. The school children celebrated Lincoln's Lin-coln's birthday with elaborate exercises exer-cises in the opera house consisting of dances, marches, songs, drills, farce, etc. The entertainment was good and a good houso welcomed the little ones. Major J. .1. Moikle was in Richmond on Monday and later In Lewlston and other towns with the lecturers on the subject of beets. I Miss Smith and Miss Cooner, of the Logan Hell Telephone otlicc, were guests at the Mack Hotel Sunday evening. Mrs. Joseph Goddard, of Ogden, is visiting her sister Mrs. Hansen. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McCann, of Preston, arc visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Melklc. Mrs. Kelsey, who has been ill with a severe attack of quinsy, Is able to bo out again. |
