Show Good Report. M A report of tho Utah Commission's IH work at the Portland exposition, with H a statement of the receipts and ex pen- H dlturcs, is very good reading. Of the IH $.'I0,'J52,71 received from all sources, H $2,080.12 has been returned to the jH State of Utah, tho Commissioners H keeping well within the prescribed IH limit, so far as expenditures arc con- H $:i,000 was appropriated by the state H legislature for an educational exhibit. H Prof. L. A. Ostlen.of the Agricultural IH Collegc,who was In charge of this part H of tho work, managed to make ono of H the very best displays at tho fair, and IH or the .'!,000, was nble to return $10!).- H 07 of the afnount. B The educational exhibit captured 11 IH gold medals, the A. C. or U. getting H three or these; this exhibit secured 9 IH silver medals, and 8 bronze medals, H with several honorable mentions. One H of the gold medals received by tho A. C. was for tho best general display. This record Is considered almost phe- In horticulture, agriculture, mines, H rood products, quite a number or gold and silver medals wcro awarded the H Utah displays. H The Commission's report felicitates H tho people on tho value of tho State's jH participation In the exposition and ex- H presses tho belief that many erronc- ous Impressions wcro corrected. It Is j set forth also that Utah's efforts at M tho fair were the means of cementing j a good feeling between the coast states U and Utah, especially on tho part of H9 Oregon. H |
