Show Ram Girls demolish Tigers 89-4 PAROWAN - ..Wednesday ..Wed-nesday Feb. 1 the PUS girls varsity basketball team boosted their league record to 4-1 by defeating Milford 89-4. This also gives the Rams a 7-1 over-all record this season. The Rams pulled to a 24.2 lead in the first quarter behind Raelene Mitchell's 12 points. The Rams played excellent defense and the Tigers just never got in the game. The second quarter saw Christie Austin a 5'4" freshman fresh-man come off the bench and show superior outside shooting adding 9 to the Rams cause in that period of play to give them a 46-2 half-time half-time lead. Again in the second half it was Raelene Mitchell and Lisa Stolk adding 13 and 12 respectively, to notch the victory. High for Parowan was Mitchell with 26, Stolk with 18, Michelle Bentley with 12, and Austin with 11. Maria Robinson played an exceptional ex-ceptional game with good defense and 9 assists. The Rams will be back in action this Wednesday at Parowan against the Beaver Beavers. Game time is 7:30. The Rams will also host the Region 8 tournament Feb. 17 and 18. Friday's game times will be at 3:00, 5:00, and 7:00 p.m. Saturday play will resume at 1 :00 p.m. with the Championship game at 7:00 p.m. Saturday night. Pairings have not been set yet according to Coach Kim Heppler, but will be published as soon as available. The Rams are also assistant coached by Karen Roberts, who is doing her student teaching at Parowan Hieh. |
