Show C & C Cobbler garners lead in baseball league C and C Cobbler has taken an unsurmountable lead in the Cedar City Men's Baseball association League, with a perfect 11 win and no loss record. C and C took commanding hold of the league lead in action Thursday night when they defeated Sullivan's Cafe by a score of 11 to 3 behind the pitching of Weidmann. He gave up only one hit and collected eight strikeouts in the contest. Standings through Monday Mon-day are as follows: C&C Cobbler 11 n Sullivans 7 4 Coca Cola 7 5 Go Real Estate 6 6 Ballistics 4 7 Sportsman's 4 7 So. Utah Heritage 5 8 Adams Coal 2 9 12-1. Duncan was the loser. Sportsmen downed Coke 9 to 5 with Blackner the winner and Holmes the loser. Ballistics bested Go Real Estate 9-8; with T. Chew and Hermin on the mound for the win. Go sent Evans and Rollo to the mound. Heritage behind the pitching pit-ching of Reber defeated Sullivans 5-1. Mortenson suffered the loss. Adams Coal defeated Sullivans 10-8. Matt Rosenberg picked up the win, Anderson the loss. Sportsman behind the pitching of Roberts downed Ballistics 3-2. Wilson was the loser. Coke hammered Heritage 22-4. Hunter was the winner. Sorenson and Lungren hurled for Heritage. The league will be extended ex-tended to Monday and Tuesday of next week to allow for makeup games that have been rained out, according to Gary Anderson, league president. A run down of games played during the past week with winning and losing pitchers follows: Coke defeated Sullivans behind the pitching of Cox. Bentley suffered the loss. C&C with Bell on the mound defeated Adams Coal Heritage came back to down Ballistics 3-0 with Reber picking up the shut out. Chew was the loser. Coke defeated Go 12-3. Cox was the winner. Alger and Evans hurled for Go. Sportsman downed Adams Coal 6-3 with Roberts the winner, Cook the loser. Three forfeits were recorded with Sportsman winning over Heritage and Sullivans and C&C both taking forfeits from Go Real Estate. |
