Rather a nebulous figure to grab hold of, but a recent bulletin from the Utah Economic and Business Review, from the college of business research, University of Utah, examined and compared the structure of personal income in Utah Counties. Iron County ranked 14th in the state in per capita income in 1975, with $4,134 per capita, a figure which also ranked the county at 70 percent of the United States average. The 1975 figure shows the yearly inflation rate when compared with 1974 figures. In 1974, the per capita income level for Iron County was $3,895, which still ranked with $5,585 in 1975. Only 9.7 percent of Iron County's earnings came from farming, with Rich County leading all counties in that regard with 34.8. Trades and state and local governments accounted for the biggest percentage of Iron County incomes. |
