Show Hunter Success Below Par On Opening Day The opening week of the general deer hunting season in Utah turned out to be less than completely successful as many sportsmen returned after a full week end of hunting empty handed. Some successes were evident following the opening week but many a nimrod will be taking to the hills again this week end in hopes of bagging the elusive deer. Few parties reported complete com-plete success. Out - of - state hunters, here only for the op-pening op-pening week were also returning return-ing without bagging a deer with the Santa Clara checking station reporting less success than in previous years. Weather conditions have played a part in the hunt, as mild fall weather with no storms since the first of the month leaving all the country coun-try wide open for the deer. Deer have been scattered. As a result a limited amount of activity has resulted and many hunters have returned from hunts without firing a single shot. As a result the second week end of hunting is expected to match the first with numbers in the field in the final attempt at-tempt at success. Should mild weather continue, deer are expected ex-pected to be ever more scattered scat-tered and harder to find. |
