Show IRotarians Support Festival With Special Attendance Friday, July 26, will b0 Rotary Ro-tary Night at the Utah Shakes, pearean Festival performance of "As You Like It," ac-cording ac-cording to Festival producers. Cedar City Rotary Club members mem-bers and their families and friends are planning to attend at-tend the performance en-masse. en-masse. However, the performance will not be exclusively for Ro-taiians. Ro-taiians. Anyone is welcome to attend and join the Rotar-ians Rotar-ians and their guests in the festivities. The Rotary Club has been a staunch supporter of the Festival since its first season in 1962. .Today, 60 of the 189 members of the Utah Shakespearean Shakes-pearean Festival Guild are Ro-tarians Ro-tarians or Rotary Anns. Gus-tin Gus-tin O. Gooding, chairman of the guild, is a Rotarian and Mrs. Gooding is an official hostess. Three of the six members mem-bers of the Festival Board of Directors are Rotarians as- are-three are-three of the six Festival scholarship schol-arship donors and several of tlie participating donors. The Rotary Club as a group also contributes as a participating donor. Officers of the Rotary Club have stated that the organization organ-ization gives this generous support to the Festival because it believes the Festval is good for Cedar City in that it provides pro-vides cultural advantages to the residents of the community commun-ity and entire area. They also al-so point out the economic advantages ad-vantages gained through the attraction of more tourists and visitors to Southern Utah. A spokesman for the Rotary Club stated that the organization organiza-tion realizes that for the Festival Fes-tival to continue to grow in prestige and performance, major ma-jor contributions from foundations, founda-tions, corporations and individuals indi-viduals wil be needed, 'the first thing these major contri-. contri-. butors look for, beyond quality qual-ity of performance, is strong community support, he stated. |
