Show Cedar City Pony League to Host Four-team State Tournament Here; Opens Thurs. Cedar City Pony League will play host Thursday, Friday and Saturday to a Utah State baseball tournament. Four teams, including the Cedar City All-stars will participate par-ticipate in the three day event. Other entries, all who won area ar-ea tournaments during the past week include Springville, Provo and Carbon County. Opening round of play will pit Carbon against Provo in a game slated Thursday evening even-ing at 5 p.m. At 8 p.m. the Cedar City crew will take on Springville. At 10 a.m. Friday, first round losers will meet and winners of the first round will meet at 5 p.m. Friday evening at 8 p.m., the winner of the 10 a.m. game will meet the loser of the 5 p.m. game and the winner of that game will meet the still undefeated team in the tournament Saturday Sat-urday afternoon at 2 p.m. Winner ,of the tournament will enter the Regional tournament tourn-ament to be held at Vernal the following week. The Cedar City All-Star team is coached by Quenton Bowler with Tom Cardon as nb assistant. Tournament director di-rector is Ken Benson. Members of the all-star team include: Carlin Adams, iioian Anderson, Ricky Bonzo, Gene Cardon, Lewis Chamberlain, Chamber-lain, Rodney Cosslett, Dale Flanigan, Al J. Heaton, Brent Hunter, Lane Isom, Robbie Jenson, Bruce Johnson, Mike Rice, Nolan Roberts and Stanley Stan-ley Roberts. The Cedar City team should have a well-balanced club with good pitching potential. Jxpected to see a lot of mound duty are Nolan Roberts, Lewis Jhamberlain, Lane Isom, and Al J. Heaton. Others on the 3:iuad could also fill in on the mound if it becomes necessary. |
