Show City Council Awards Contracts For Golf Course Fence Contracts for construction of a fence on the south side of the Painted Hills Golf Course were awarded at the regular meeting of the Cedar City Council Thursday, Thurs-day, April 21. Low bidder for materials on the project was Southern Utah Lumber Lum-ber Co. with a bid of $383.10 and Henry "Chick" Bulloch submitted the low bid of $209.86 for installation. install-ation. Work is expected to begin immediattely on the fencing project. pro-ject. Mayor Loren Whetten also indicated in-dicated that a pole fence will be constructed on the west side of the golf course and that the city will provide materials and the Painted Hills Country Club will provide the manpower for the erection of this fence which is also expected to be under construction con-struction in tlie very near future. In other aciton the council tabled tab-led action on a request for funds from Cedar City Chamber of Commerce Com-merce to assist in repairs and replacing of road signs. A change was also made by the council in the Cedar City Power Board that will reduce the board to six members beginning July 1 of this year. Terms of appointment appoint-ment were also designated. Members Mem-bers of the board approved by the council and the expiration date of their terms were annunc-ed annunc-ed as follows: J. M. Palmer, July Ju-ly 1, 1966; George Corry and Mary P. Bauer, July 1, 1967; Dub Leigh and Robt. McCannon, July 1, 1968 and Mary Lunt and Clifford Craig, July 1, 1969. Council adopted a change in the ordinance relative to trailer parks which would allow a six inch under trailer area in lieu of previous restrictions to cement slabs. v The council also accepted an offer from the Southern Utah Foundation to participate in the planning of a picnic park near the mouth of Cedar Canyon. The Foundation has offered funds to secure the services of landscape ..architect Leon Frehner to prepare a master plan for the prorposed area. Actual construction, after designing has been completed, is expected, to be accomplished through the use of various service ser-vice and civic groups under the direction and cooperation of the .city. BPOE Lodge No. 1556 had previously requested of the city a series of annual service projects -and the city is proposing this development de-velopment utilizing the services of the Elks and other organiza-lions, organiza-lions, Mayor Whetten said. |
