Escalante Valley Lions Club under un-der the direction of new club president Bryner Wood, met recently re-cently to formulate plans for 1959. It was decided that in general gen-eral the club would iVilow the .policies which had been In effect under the presidency of Otto Fife, who resigned recently to become Iron County Sheriff. However, some new projects were discussed. discuss-ed. The group voted to work toward to-ward the purchase of Christmas lighting displays for the new community recreation building, and they also discussed ways of furthering the club's campaign to elect past president Don Apple-gate Apple-gate to the post of District Governor Gov-ernor for 1959-60. At the Lions annual mid-winter banquet to be held in Salt Lake City Jan. 2, president Bryner Wood will present pre-sent an outline of Mr. Applegate's qualifications for the position and reasons for his nomination. It Is expecteed that about six other members and their wives will be in Salt Lake City for the banquet Tall Twslfer Bob Hyde and Board Member Alfred Force of the local club and their wives were guests of the Mllford Lions Club at their Christmas party during the holidays. |
