Show Redmen Defeated By Rams In Close Contest Final pre-league game of the current basketball season for the Cedar Redmen turnel Into a rip-roaring rip-roaring event In thr. second meet-ing meet-ing of the Redmen and Rams at Parowan Saturday evening. The Rams, coached by John Wood, posted their second victory over the Redmen, but not without a hard fight that put the game Into In-to an overtime period. Final score: Cedar 57, Parowan 59. - It was a . simple ' matter of shooting that spelled the difference differ-ence In the game. Although the Redmen attempted more shots, a total of 70, they couldn't com-nete com-nete with the 39 per cent shooting shoot-ing of the Rams, who only attempted at-tempted 62 field goals. Cedar's percentage from the field was 33 per cent Close AU The Way The game was a near reversal of the earlier meeting of the two squads. Parowan. after tvin" the game up at halftime, 25 to 25, with two foul shots after play had been discontinued, lumped into a good lead In the third period per-iod on some exceptional fine shooting by Dennis Lowder and by Eugene Robb. In the thl'd period the Rams hit nine field goals In 17 attempts for a phenomenal phe-nomenal 55 per cent. Robb hit four in six tries and Lowder hit three In six attempts and all were from outside. Ken Simkins put In two buckets to move the Rams out to a 44 to 37 lead. First half was the Red men's as they moved out to a 11 to 7 lead with the Rams hitting only two field goals in the entire period. per-iod. Weston Kitchen, of the Red-men, Red-men, high man for the evening with 24 points, led off the scoring with a tip In under the basket. Steve Yertrensen bounced back with a 15-footer to put the Red-men Red-men In lead 4 to 0. The Redmen had. moved the score to 44 to 42 before the Rams could score. A foul and a bucket by Robb and Lamoreaux, respectively put the margin back to five before Kitch. en and Gardntr hit to narrow the score to 47 to 46. Score was tict in the fourth period at 49 all with Just three minutes on the clock. Bucket Exchange! In the final minutes the score, was tied at 49. 51, 52, and 53 and j the lead changed on three separate separ-ate occasions. Parowan took the! lead at 53 to 52 with less than a minute and with 20 second on the clock Bowler hit his first of1 two fouls to eni the game with the score deadlocked at 53 all. Simkins of the Rams was foul ed and he calmly stepped to the foul line to dunk two to open the extra period and Lowder hit from the corner to put Parowan out in front 57 to 53.
