Show Pony League Race Tightens When Two Top Teams Lose TEAM STANDINGS State Bank 4 1 .800 Winterrose 4 2 .667 California-Pacific 3 3 .500 Utah Parks 2 4 .333 Utah Const. 1 4 .200 The Cedar City Pony League race was tightened up this past week when State Bank and Winterrose, Win-terrose, the two top contenders were knocked over. Utah Parks moved out of the cellar position with a 10 inning 6 to 4 .vln over Winterrose. Mer- rill U7I11I. 1 I u- - - f in relief of starter Kevin Rowley. Utah Parks took an early lead on a three run homer by Charles jMosdell in the third, but Winterrose Wint-errose came back to tie it at three-all with three in the sixth on a single hit, a double by Steve Anderson. Both scored singles runs in the seventh to force the game into extra innings in-nings and in the top of the tenth Utah Parks scored on a wild pitch and error to pick up the victory. In addition to Mosdell's homer, doubles were hit by Steve Anderson and Craig Barton of Winterrose. State Bank suffered a 2 to 1 setback at the hands of California-Pacific Utilities Co. In a pitching duel that saw only two hits In the entire game, Cal.-Pac. came up with the win without benefit of either of those hits. As a matter of fact, the two hits did not figure in the scoring. Kevin Hunter was the winning pitcher and Wayne Esplin suffered the loss although he did not allow a hit to the opposing team. A walk, a stolen base and an error scored the first run of the game in the third for Cal.-Pac. In the sixth Cal.-Pac. again put a man aboard on a walk. He moved to second on a stolen base and came on to score on a passed ball. In the seventh. State Bank loaded the bases on three walks and their only run of the game scored on a wild pitch. In other action during the week Winterrose came up with a 7 to 0 victory over Utah Construction Con-struction to stay in second place. Urea McMullin and Scott Hint were on the mound for the winners. win-ners.
