Show Cedar Plays Host to Little League Pony League Tourneys This Week Tournament play in the var-1 ious youtn baseball programs will move into full swing this I week in Cedar City. Three All Star teams will begin be-gin competition with two tournaments tour-naments slated for Cedar City. Wednesday evening the Area Pony League tournament for bovs 13 and 14 years of age opened open-ed and will continue each night through Saturday. All-Stars are serving as hosts to this event and games are played play-ed at 7 and 9 p. m. each evening. Participating are teams from Richfield. Trl-City , which includes in-cludes the communities of Kanab. Ka-nab. Orderville and Fredonia, Ariz.; and Hurricane. Richfield and Tri-Clty met in the opening round Wednesday evening and Cedar City and Hurricane Hur-ricane clashed. Results of those games were not available at this writing. The tournament, however, is a true double-elimination event and a team must suffer tvo losses los-ses before they are eliminated from a chance at the tournament and a right to advance to the next level of tournament competition. com-petition. Saturday's schedule allows al-lows for the possibility of two games. Winner of this tournament will advance to the District level play at Price next week. LITTLE LEAGUES The Cedar American Little League All-Star team will host with six teams to participate. They include host Cedar City, West Zion all-stars from Hurricane; Hurri-cane; St. George Sunrise Little League, Tri-Clty, Parowan Para-gonah Para-gonah League and Lincoln County, Coun-ty, Nevada All-Stars. Three games will be held Thursday and two games scheduled sche-duled Friday and Saturday. Opening round of competition today, Thursday, Bees West Zion meeting St George Sunrise at 12:30 p. m., Trl-City takes on Parowan -Paragonah at 3:00 p. m. and at 5:30 p. m. Llnclon Co. and Cedar American will tangle. Games Friday and Saturday will be at 3 and 5:30 p. m. NATIONAL LITTLE LEAGUE On the same dates the Cedar National Little League All-Stars will be participating in an area tournament at Beaver. Cedar National Na-tional will meet Milford in the opening round with the game to be played at 2 p. m. On Friday and Saturday, Aug. 6 and 7 Cedar City will be the site of the next level of the Little Lit-tle League tournament compet- titlon. Winners at Cedar Clfy anri Beaver and two area winners from northern Utah will converge con-verge on Cedar City to determine a district champion. The winner of that tournament will then advance ad-vance to Reno, Nev. for the next level of competition. It is pointed out, however, that for either of the Cedar teams to be in the district tournament they must win the area tournament. tourna-ment.
