Show NEWS NOTES FROM NEWCASTLE By Mildred Tullis The MIA held a very successful suc-cessful closing social Tuesday evening. The large group present enjoyed a fine program, refresh-ments refresh-ments and dancing. Mrs. Robert Piatt Is recuperating recuperat-ing at home after her recent illness ill-ness from a heart condition. Mrs. Russell Chrlstensen returned re-turned home from the hospital last week after undergoing a major operation recently. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Knell, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Harrison and Mr. and Mrs. Calne Chrlstensen attended at-tended the Helldorado festivities In Las Vegas over the week end. Some of our townspeople attended at-tended the Junior High School graduation exercises In Cedar City Thursday evening. Junior high students from here that graduated were Iylia Harrison, and Sheldon Bowler. Mrs. Verl Woolsey and children returned home Saturday after spending the week in Delta and Salt Lake City. Mrs. Geneva Gillies Is In Las Vegas where she attended the HeJldorado festivities and where she will visit for a short time with members of her family. Mrs. Ida Tullis Is visiting with members' of her family In Salt Lake City and Eureka for a few weeks. Emma Nielson and Mary Bas-tow Bas-tow of Cedar City gave interesting interest-ing discussions on shrubs, flow, ers, and trees to a group of ladies lad-ies here Thursday evening. A homemakers' club was then organized or-ganized with Marlon Woolsey as president, Charlene Knell as vice president and Gene Sorenson as secretary. Mr. and Mrs. Otto FIf, Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Biasl, Gene Jol'ey and Mildred and Cleo Tullis attended at-tended the MIA leadership social so-cial In Fanaca Monday evening. Mr. Fife delighted those present with his English character readings. |
