Show I HAPPENINGS IN PARAGONAH I By Nora Lund Allen Daily, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Daily, and a graduate grad-uate of the P H S, was proud to accept a scholarship to the Salt Lake Area Vocational School for next year. He expects to speclaj- j ize in radio and electronics. He is also a speaker at the com-1 mencement exercises of the high school which are being held this evening. 1 The Relief Society held Its clos- J ing social Tuesday in connection with the social science lesson. The committee In charge had a fine program arranged, after which refreshments were served. The work meetings will still be held on the second Tuesday of each month during the summer. Clifford and Dianne Robb came from Salt Lake City to spend .the week end. I Mrs. Ellis Robinson spent a few days in the Iron County Hos-pital Hos-pital receiving medical attention atten-tion last week. Those attending sessiions at the TempJe during the week were Bertha Topham, Dortha Barton, Annie Williamson and Elnora Barton. The Elders quorum is sponsoring an excursion this week. Mrs. Don . Barton spent Jast week end in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Robinson are rejoicing over an addition to their family of their third daughter. daugh-ter. The little miss arrived at the hospital in Provo on May 16. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson of Paragonah and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Warren, Parowan, are the grandparents. Mrs. Carol Butterfield and her i three children returned to Paragonah Para-gonah during the week to remain with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Abbott, until her husband Paul, who Is in the service, finishes fin-ishes his special schooling In the East and comes for her. Stake Dance-rest ivul in Pmuwatv Saturday evening. The accordion trio gave a speclaj number. These young people are to participate in the Regional Festival May 26 in St. George. I Mr. and Mrs. Pete Cox of Key West, Fla., spent a week here with Mr. Cox's sister, Mrs. Ruth Boardman and family. They have made an extensive tour of the national parks of this area. Mr. and Mrs. Elwln Armstrong of Enoch were our speakers in Sacrament meeting Sunday. The talks were timely and instruc-j jtive. I 1 Mrs. Lila Stone's Bee Hive class participated in the stake Bee Hive'graduation program in Par-owan Par-owan Sunday evening. The entire class, Patsy Topham, LaVern Barton, Mildred Hunt, Ruth Ann Dalton and Connie Dunton received re-ceived Honor Bee awards, as well as taking other parts on the program pro-gram Mr. and Mrs. Basil Gllger, for. mer residents of our community, have our sympathy in the loss of their infant daughter who died Monday in Parowan. Mrs. Golda Topham and son Eugene motored to Las Vegas over the week end to take In the Helldorado celebration. Chester Benson's elementary school students held their closing clos-ing program Friday. May IS. Those who graduated and who' will attend the Parowan High School next year are, Sherry Dawn Evans, Shlrlene Talbot, Patsy Topham, LaVena Barton and Mildred Hunt. The boys are Gosdon Topham. Eugene Board-man Board-man and Max Robinson. Annette Dalton, Kathleen Barton. Bar-ton. Lyle Topham and Robin Lamoreaux of the Seminary graduating class enjoyed a party par-ty with other class members at Veyo on Saturday. Lyla and Robin Ro-bin left Friday with their teacher, teach-er, Mr. Carlston, to prepare the barbecued chickens for the big feed on Saturday. Quite a group from here called on "Aunt" Barbara Adams on Tuesday to wish here many hap. py returns of the day on her birthday. Open house was held for her on that day. Ralph Edwards was called to Salt Lake City Sunday to get his brother BiU Edwards, who has been in the hospital there for several weeks. He seems to be Improving from a fall from a horse which happened early in April. Miss Laura Lamoreaux traveled travel-ed to Las Vegas to see the Hell-dorado Hell-dorado parade on Sunday and on to Boulder Dam. Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Ashton and I three daughters of Provo spent I Saturday night here as guests of LeOra's sister, Irene Robinson, i and family. |
