Show Trades Building Bid Let to Salt Lake Construction Co. Bids for the construction of a new trades building at the College Col-lege of Southern Utah were opened by the State Building Board in SaJt Lake City Tuesday, recommendations for the awarding award-ing of the contract made, and construction work should start in the near future. Five bids were submitted on the building ranging from $189,-758 $189,-758 to $212,700. A number of alternates al-ternates were Included in the bidding but only one of them was taken into consideration in the final recommendations. Jcnson Construction Company of Salt Lake City submitted the low bid of $189,758, and recommendation recom-mendation was made to the board by the school officials that this bid be accepted. The one alternate1! al-ternate1! ,a reduction of $4,092 In the base bid. If interior painting is eliminated, will be taken into consideration. A decision as to final action on the alternate will be made as construction progresses. pro-gresses. Other bids submitted were as follows: Finn B. Paulson, Co., Salt Lake City, $191,000; Witt Construction Co., Provo, $194,400 Newell J. Olson and Sons, Logan, Lo-gan, $199,500; Chrytrus Brothers', Salt Lake City, $212,700. Work is expected to start within with-in 10 days after the contract is awarded, and the contractor is allowed 330 working days in which to complete the Job. The building wUl be located west of the Memorial Fleldhouse, but the exact location has not been finally fin-ally decided. Dr. Rowden C Braithwaite, director, di-rector, announces that ground ceremonies are planned for noon Saturday. Everyone interested Is Invited to be present |
