Show Heart Ailment Claims Newcastle Resident 1 1 - - - - ' ALONZO CHRISTENSEN Funerul services were held Thursday, July 12th, in the New Castle Ward Hall for Alonzo C. Chrlstensen, who died Monday, July 9, in the Iron County Hospital Hos-pital of a coronary occlusion. Mr. Chrlstensen was born Ang-ust Ang-ust 30, 1891, in Oasis, Utah, the eldest child of Anthon Christen-sen Christen-sen and Mary Dorthea Anderson Chrlstensen. He married Cassia Allene Forsyth on March 27, 1914, in the St. George Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were the parents of six children, two of whom died In infancy. Mr. Christensen has been very active in church and civic organizations, organ-izations, having served in the MIA as Superintendent, Bishop of New Castle ward for eight years, and a member of the Uvada Stake High Council. At the time of his death, he was President of the Utah Farmers and Poultry Co-operative As elation local, early backer fciii instigator of the New Castle water system, the New Castle Reservior. the electric R. E. A. system, and the telephone system. sys-tem. Mr. Chrlstensen has farmed and raised livestock in and around New Castle most of his life and in partnership with his sons the latter part of his life. He is servived by his widow, New Castle; three sons and one daughter, Calne F. of Las Vegas; Russell A. and Boyd A., both of New Castle; Mrs. Darwin (Norma) (Nor-ma) Thomas of Enterprise; 14 grand-children; and three brothers, bro-thers, Ova, of Santa Monica; Or-ville Or-ville of Los Angeles; and Alma of Orem. The program for the impressive impres-sive funeral services was as follows: fol-lows: The New Castle Singing Mothers sang the opening song, 'There's a Beautiful Land;" the opening prayer offered by Elmer Gurr of Parowan, followed by a talk by Harry Horlacher of Pi-oche, Pi-oche, Nevada. Herbert Holt of Enterprise played a violin solo, "Melody of Love." A talk was given by C. K. Ferre of Salt Lake City, followed by solo, "That Silver-haired Daddy of Mine", aung ty Ltmti Buwier of Enterprise. Enter-prise. Mrs. Mildred Tullis of New Castle gave a tribute and brief sketch of Mr. Chrlstensen's life, followed by a few remarks by Bishop Mont Sorensen of the New Castle Ward. The Singnng Mothers sang the closing song, "One Fleeting Hour," and the benediction was offered by Lee Carlson of Cedar City. Darwin Thomas, a son-in-law, offered the family prayer and the grave was dedicated by Melvln Hulet of New Castle. Pall Bearers were nephews of Mr. Christensen; Christen-sen; Derrel and Cleo Chrlstensen, Chrlsten-sen, Shtnnan Beachman, Spencer Spen-cer Snow, Gordon Knell and Lee Forsyth. Flower girls were granddaughters. grand-daughters. Burial was in the New Castle cemetery. |
