Show Benjamin Lawrence Dies, Services Held Funeral services were conduct-I conduct-I ed in Summit Friday, July 13, for Benjamin R. Lawrence, 86, who died at his home in North Hollywood, Holly-wood, Calif., of a lingering illness. ill-ness. He was born in Hereford, England, Eng-land, June 13, 1876, a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Vaughn Lawrence. He moved to this country as a young boy and resided re-sided in northern Utah, moving to Summit shortly after his marriage mar-riage to Rose Leigh and living here until 19 years ago when he moved with his family to California. Cali-fornia. He was always a very active worker In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, hold-Ing hold-Ing a number of positions. He was a member of the Bishopric in Summit for nine years. Survivors include three sons and three daughters, Frank, George and Reed Lawrence, Mrs. LaVon Underwood, Mrs. Edith Williams and. Mrs. Elsie Dernier, Dern-ier, all of California. Also surviving surviv-ing is a step-son, Alden Miles, California; a number of grandchildren grand-children and three brothers, Thomas, Cedae City; Wllford and A. T. Lawrence, Summit. Services were conducted Wednesday Wed-nesday in the Van Nuys LDS Ward. ' Services in Summit were conducted con-ducted by Bishop Ivan Dalley. Prayers were given by Alma Lawrence Law-rence and Oscar J. Hulet. Speakers Speak-ers were Raymond L. Farrow and Otto P. Dalley. The Singing Mothers Mo-thers sang two songs, "Rest, Rest For The Weary," and 'That Beautiful Land," accompanied by Sylvia Stapley, who also played the prelude and postlude music. Douglas Farrow dedldcated the grave. Family members coming for the services from California were Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lawrence and two children; George Lawrence, Mrs. LaVon Underwood, Mrs. Editn Williams and Mrs. Elsie Demler and daughter Patsy, and Mrs. Ritchie Miles and two sons from Lis Vegas, Nevada. |
