Show Rams Lose Opener Travel to Millard Friday Basketball play in the Millard Division of Region Ten got under way last Friday with two games in which the home teams didn't fare too well. Parowan, the host team in the number one game as far as we are concerned took a 65 to 42 trimming from the visiting visit-ing Delta Rabbits and host Beaver Bea-ver took a 59 to 40 trimming from the Visiting Millard High team from Fillmore. In the Parowan-Delta gamo, the local team Just made too many mistakes to win from a much weaker team than the Delta outfit. out-fit. The Rams Just couldn't hold onto the ball, with It going off their finger tips and past them time after time. And thoy couldn't could-n't pass over or past the Delta players, resulting in many interceptions. inter-ceptions. These mistakes, coupled with the hot shooting of the Delta club was too much to overcome by Coach Lowell Caldwell's squad. Not only was the Delta team hot from the field, but its passing was such that its members mem-bers worked in for easy layups time after time, while the Ram players missed silmilar shots on a number of occasions. The visitors also capitalized on their foul shots, getting nine straight tries in the game before missing and got 23 out of 33 tries from the charity stripe. Par-owan Par-owan hit 12 for 22 which isn't too bad a percentage, but not up to the visitors. As cen by the box score, three i'ielta players got into the double fii,utCo in points while only one. Blaine Hyatt could do this for the Rams, and one of the best men on the floor for Parowan was Danny Barton, who was brought up from the JV squad during the week by Coach Caldwell,., and did a very good Job in the gamo. Quarter scores showed the Delta Del-ta team taking a substantial lead In the first quarter and increasing increas-ing the margin during each of the next three periods to give it the big win. At Beaver, the Millard team went out on lead 14 to 7, held that margin in the second period per-iod and padded their margin In each of the next two quarters for its bid win to share the lead In the division race. This Friday the Parowan Rams travel to Fillmore to meet the Eagles and Milford opens play by going to Delta for a game with the Rabbits with Beaver getting the bye.
