Show Robb Yins District Legion Oratorical Contest at Milford I r LllM MAX ROBB Max Robb, senior student at the Parowan High School, met contestants from the three southern south-ern Utah American Legion Districts Dis-tricts last Friday afternoon at the Milford High School in the stataf semi-finals of the Legion oratorical contest, and came out victorious In the contest Robb, who is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Bentley of Parowan, placed second in th" District Seven meet at Huvricane two weeks ago, losing to t young lady from the Panguitch High School. These two from District Seven entered the meet at Milford Mil-ford last Friday along with two students from high schools near Price, and Robb won out over the other three. The contestants delivered pv pared orations on "Communism, Threat to the Constitution," then each gave a four-minute extemporaneous extem-poraneous talk on a subject of national concern. Max gave his. extemporaneous talk on 'The In-1 come Tax," to walk off with the .honors. - I Second place winner was Miss .Karen Piccionl of Helper. Both received handsome trophies and I both will enter the state finals .Friday, Mar. 11 at Ogden. " I Winning makes Max eligible for a full tuition scholarship to the school of his choice in the state of Utah.. He was accompanied accom-panied to Milford last Friday by his grandmother, Mrs. Bentley; Mrs. Wanda Benson, Mrs. Lucille Bunn and Bain Matheson. He will be accompanied to Ogden this week end by Mrs. Bentley. |
