Show Parowan Rams to Host Region Ten Tourney : Will Play Favorite Role The Parowan High School will be host to the annual Region Ten playoffs on Friday and Saturday Sat-urday of this week, the first time it has been held here since 1953. In that year Coach Twist Jones' team won the playoff and went to the state meet for the first time in 20 years. Since that time the Parowan Rams have been steady members of the select se-lect 16-team group in the Class B tournament And with the playoff on their home floor they will be favored to go again for the eighth time In a row. But this year's edition of the Rams has a tough assignment this week end, one which won't be easy. The first game of the playoffs will begin at 7:30 p. m. Friday with Cedar of the Dixie Division meeting Beaver of the Millard division. di-vision. At 9 Parowan takes the floor against the Dixie Flyers, and a full house is expected for the opening round. The losers of this round drop out of contention and the winners win-ners play the Saturday night feature at 9 o'clock for third place In the region and the berth in the state tournament which goes with it. At 7:30 p. m. on Saturday sends the two division winners against each other for the Region Ten championship. Delta is the Millard Division winner and Enterprise will represent rep-resent the Dixie Division. If this playoff is held similar to past playoffc, at the close of the games trophies will be pr? sented to the first three teams and the game ball will be given to the fourth place team. Principal Max Dalley of the host school states that the playoffs play-offs are being run by the Region Ten officials, and tnder their orders, or-ders, the seating in the gym has been apportioned to the participating partici-pating schools. On Friday night each of the four participating schools will b? alloted 300 seats with approximately approxi-mately 150 held for school and region officials, players, etc. Any seats left unsold at any of the schools outside of Parowan for Friday night's games, are to be returned and sold just prior game time, we understand. The procedure will be the same Saturday Sat-urday night. Ticket prices are set at $12" for adults and 50 cents for students stu-dents for each night "session of two games, and any seats ro maining unsold will go on sale at the doc:. There will be a limited lim-ited amount of standing room available for those who cannot get seats. Information from Principal Dalley' s office on Tuesday night was that all the Parowan tickets had been sold, but that orders were being listed and the list will be held until Friday and will be filled if any tickets are returned from the other three schools. Mr. Dalley also states that the seats sold are not reserved and all tickets are good any place in the section allotted to any school. Also that the 000 tlcke s allotted to each school, has to take care of the student body. |
