Show Race Tightens In Cedar City Pony League PONY LEAGUE STANDINGS Utah Parks 4 1 -800 Wlnterrose 3 1 ,75 Calif.-Pac. 2 3 .400 State Bank 2 3 .400 Utah Const. 1 4 .200 The Pony League baseball race tightened up this week with Utah Parks suffering a loss and Win terrose coming up with a pair of wins to remain just one-halt game off the pace in the second half of play. Winterrose opened the week with a 8 to 6 victory over Utah Parks in a game that saw both teams collect six hits. Fred Liy-ermore Liy-ermore was credited with the win with Wayne Esplin and Gaylen Heyborne on the mound for the losers. Winterrose took the lead in the top of the first Inning with three runs on two hits and were never caught by the Parks. Randy Clove of Winterrose belted a pair of doubles. Heyborne of Parks homered and Mike Thompson Thomp-son doubled. , Utah Construction picked up their first win of the half Thursday Thurs-day with a 10 to 6 win over California-Pacific putting the game on ice with a four run barrage in the fifth Inning. Steve Lunt was credited with the win. Dale Hatch suffered the loss. Hatch collected two doubles as did Alan Bratton of Utah Con-" Con-" struction. Lloyd Kenny of UC also al-so doubled in the game. It was Winterrose 13 to 4 over State Bank Friday night with Fred Livermore and Randy Clove sharing mound duty for the winners. win-ners. Creg McMullin suffered the loss. Extra base hits included doubles by Livermore, Clove and Mike Gardner of Winterrose and by Brown and McMullin for State Bank. Stae Bank bounced back Monday Mon-day to post a 6 to 5 win over California-Pacific. Kim Mathe-son Mathe-son was credited with the win with Greg McMullin performing an outstanding Job of relief. Wade Roberts went the distance in the losing effort. Dale Hatch homered for the losers and Roberts Ro-berts belted two doubles. Only extra base hit for State Bank was a double by McMullin. Tuesday evening Utah Parks moved out one-half game into the second half lead with a 10 to 4 win over Utah Construction. Burnell Thorley, Dale Hansink and Harold Porter all doubled for Utah Parks while Gaylen Heyborne Hey-borne and Wayne Esplin handcuffed hand-cuffed UC with only three hits.
