Show Folk Dancers Will Present Performance A full evening of fast-paced folk dancing and musical numbers num-bers is in store for those who attend the performance of the Country Cousins of Yuma, Arizona, Ari-zona, when they appear In Paro-way, Paro-way, July 2 under the sponsorship sponsor-ship of the Brian Head District of the Boy Scouts of America. Folk dances from 12 countries will be featured by the high-stepping high-stepping dancers dressed in authentic au-thentic and colorful costumes. Among the numbers which they will perform are American square dances, Ukranian dances featuring the difficult pryslad-kas pryslad-kas of the men, and the intricate intri-cate Filipino mamboo stick dance, Tinikling. Quick changes by these young performers keep the action at a swift pace throughout the evening. The appearance of the Yuma Country Cousins in Parowan is a part of their annual summer tour, which this year includes appearances in 14 states and Sas-watchewan. Sas-watchewan. They are in constant demand to perform at dance festivals fes-tivals and have danced In nearly every state as well as in our neighbor to the north and in Mexico. Last year's appearances included two days at the Seattle World's Fair and the International Interna-tional Folk Dance Festival in Long Beach, Calif. Tickets for the performance are now on sale by members of the Boy Scout Troops. A. C. Hatch is chairman in charge of local arrangements for the appearance of the dance group in Parowan. The two-hour program will begin be-gin at 8:30 p. m. in the high school gym on July 2. |
