Show Music Arts Patrons Thrilled with Concert Performance The recital played by John Dalley here in Cedar City Monday Mon-day was a great musical satisfaction. satis-faction. It was a great satisfaction satisfac-tion because Mr. Dalley played so many of the familiar pieces that endear to us the music of the violin. A tone of superb all-kiness all-kiness and fullness pervaded the entire program even in rapid and disjunct passages. The artistry of Mr. Dalley was evident immediately In the playing play-ing of the Mozart Sonata for violin and piano. The phrasing was elegant and immaculate in concept and this was a charac teristic that was noteable throughout the program. The Bach una-xompanied sonata revealed re-vealed a deep knowledge of form and faithful execution of the fugal difficulties, although at times one wished for the virile zest of a Szegeti especially in the broken chords and the departures de-partures therefrom. One of the lovely moments was In the playing of the Debussy Debus-sy "Beau Soir." Here was an example ex-ample of the necessity for complete com-plete oneness of objective between be-tween the violinist and the accompanist ac-companist As competent as both were, time for the all-important welding process In a piece like thii oie is necessary for perfection per-fection cf execution. Handling the accompaniments for Mr. Dalley was Loa M. Johnson, John-son, local pianist and teacher from the Music Department of the College of Southern Utah. Mrs. Johnson gave sensitive and strong musical support to the entire program especially In the Mozart and the Tchaikowsky-numbers. Tchaikowsky-numbers. r . .., ; i |
