Show City Council Meets to Examine Plans For Street Improvement Program At a special meeting of the Parowai. City Council on Monday Mon-day evening of this week, an extensive ex-tensive street improvement program pro-gram was outlined for the coming com-ing summer and fall. Councilman Council-man L. J. King, chairman of the streets and sidewalks committee, reported that he and other city officials had made a partial survey sur-vey of the streets and that a more complete survey would be made right away to determine how far the program would reach. It was proposed that the oil surface bo extended out at least cne block both east and west from the end of the present oiled streets and that two or three of the streets running north and south be prepared and oiled under un-der the program. As most of the gravel capping on these streets is gone, they will have to be rebuilt re-built before the oiling program can be undertaken. Claude Eutcher has been operating oper-ating the city patrol on the streets for the past 10 days to smooth them up temporarily. But before the permanent improvement improve-ment program gets under way a complete survey of the city streets will be made with City Engineer Thomas C. Adams to do the work. Also rruny of the culverts carrying car-rying city irrigation water across street intersections are too short, and they will be lengthened as a part of the program. Some of these are of concrete and some are metal and in either case they will be extended out to almost the full width of the street before any oiling is- done. Considerable time at the meeting meet-ing was spent discussing the insurance in-surance coverage on city-owned property with Joseph Ottenhei-mer, Ottenhei-mer, insurance company representative repre-sentative of Salt Lake City. Mr. Ottenhelmer's company is making mak-ing a complete survey of Parowan Paro-wan City'r insurance program and reported that this survey will be completed within a month or so. At that time he will present a complete coverage plan to the city council for its study. |
