Show Contest Yinner Attends National Meet John Muir, popular Cedar City-High City-High School Student and winner of the Junior Chamber of Com-, Com-, merce sponsored Voice of Democracy Democ-racy Contest both on the local level as well as in state competition, compe-tition, left Monday evening for , Colonial Williamsburg, Va., to compete in a Voice of Democracy workshop. Th3 vorkship is sponsored bv the Natioanl Junior Chamber of Commerce for winners of state contests. Under the auspices of the state and local Jaycees Mr. Muir's trip has been financed. Rulon Knell, guardian of the young man while in the United States, accompanied him to the workshop. John, a native of England, came to the United States and has been living with Mr. and Mrs. Knell in Cedar City. He entered en-tered the local high school just this fall and has distinguished himself academically during the year. Competing against some 15 other students of the school he won the local contest and was automatically entered in the state contest which he also won. He was then entered in the national na-tional contest and although he did not win, his delivery on the Voice of Democracy was of a calibre sufficient for him to enter en-ter the national workshop. Finance for the trip has beer made possible through the coop, eration of local organizations i the Cedar City Jaycees and th Utah State Jaycees. |
