Show Special Memorial Day Programs Draw Many Visitors Although Memorial Day was no different than most other days this spring mostly wind with intermittant showers and cold during the afternoon many former residents of the community communi-ty returned to spend the day with relatives and friends, and to see the horse races sponsored by the Red Hill Wranglers in the afternoon. And although the weather held the crowd down it didn't dampen the spirit of those who were at the track, and they were rewarded with eight very good races during the afternoon. Two public programs were had during the morning at the Parowan Par-owan City cemetery where many people visited graves of loved ones. One program which attracted attract-ed a lot of attention was that sponsored by the Starling Graves Drlggs descendants, at which an imposing marker was erected at the grave of the elder Drlggs. The program was held at 10 a. m. with Hugh L. Adams in charge and with William R. Palmer and F. C. Van Buren as speakers. A second program was held at 11 a. m. under the sponsorship of the Parowan Post No. 20 of the American Legion and Its auxiliary, auxil-iary, with Garry Bentley. post commander in charge. County Attorney A. M. Marsden spoke briefly at this program which Included the sounding of taps and a salute by a firing squad which honored veterans of three wars who are burled In the cemetery. |
