Show , i j Branch College Departments Prepare Displays for First Education Fair I Next week a new and interest-1 ing addition will be made to the I annual Branch Agricultural col-1 lege vocational Day when the j first annual Southern Utah Edu-I Edu-I cation Fair will be held. The date i for this event is April 17, 18. The fair will be presented for the townspeople of southern Utah communities, college and high , school students. j Featured in the fair will be de-. de-. monstrations and exhibits from departments of the college and various business concerns and Industries In-dustries of the state. Some of the features of the fair include a business department depart-ment display of office machines ! and a speed typewriting exhibition exhibi-tion on Friday, and the tradition-! tradition-! al competition Saturday for high .school students in typewriting, ! shorthand and bookkeeping. The education department is building its displays and other activities around the theme "Ele-1 "Ele-1 mentary Education is Tops as a Vocation." They will have the student commons building filled with exhibits and dem"nstra- tions, including a book fair. Under the direction of Lanice Moore, the home economics department de-partment will sponsor a frozen food demonstration by Dr. Edna Page of the U. S. A .C. to be held in the home economics department. depart-ment. A fashion show will be held in the auditorium, for townspeople and college students Friday and another Saturday for high school students. They will also have booths for displays at the fieldhouse. The Cedar City Rock Club will have its display set up in the lobby of the fieldhouse. A varied display of rocks, fossils and artifacts arti-facts found in this area will be spread out. One of the highlights of the display will be a fluorescent fluoresc-ent rock section, which will prove unusually interesting. Other departments of the college col-lege will have their booths for displays and demonstrations, with headquarters at the field-house. field-house. Topping off activities for Friday Fri-day will be a variety show sponsored spon-sored by the BACEA club. This show is being built around the theme of "Come to the Fair", and will include some of the best talent in the college, plus some' participants from U. S. A. C. and Dixie college. Some of the acts are the best performances from past assemblies, and some are new acts never before seen. The show will be held in the evening eve-ning in the auditorium and will be open to townspeople and students. stu-dents. Tickets may be secured from members of the club. Student Stu-dent admission is 35 cents; for townspeople it is 50 cents. On Saturday, there will be the traditional events of vocational day, with the agriculture, home economics, business, industrjal education and auto mechanics departments participating. Students Stu-dents from 20 high schools in the southern Utah, northern Arizona and eastern Nevada area are in-ited in-ited to participate. There will be competition in stcck and crop judging, woodwork and welding as well as the business subjects. Displays of handicraft and a fashion show will be open to visiting students as well as the lisplays and demonstrations of the previous day. |
