Show Bud Fullmer Opens B A C Baseball Season With One Hit Dixie Victory Opening the southern division of the I C A C baseball play at St. George Tuesday afternoon, April 7, the Branch Agricultural college Broncos, behind the one hit pitching of Bud Fullmer, subdued sub-dued the Rebels of Dixie college 14 to 0. The Rebels were able to get only one hit, that about midway In the game, a single over second. sec-ond. The one hit plus the fact that Fullmer downed 18 batters by way of the strike out route puts the Broncos in a choice spot for conference honors this year. Coach Cleo Petty of the Broncos Bron-cos already this season boasts a win over the Utah State Agricul-1 tural college, plus wins over two of the top southern Utah high schools, before entering league play Tuesday. Eleven hits were collected by ,the fighting Broncos at the Dixie meeting against two chuckers for the Rebels, Bud Beutler, shortstop, short-stop, of Richfield, led the Broncos Bron-cos in the hitting department, collecting three hits in six trips and batting out two doubles. Gordon Sargent, first base, and Boyd "Gooney" Adams, second base, both of Cedar City, scored two hits during the afternoon and both had an extra base hit to their credit. Sherm Lee, behind the plate for the Broncos, completed the battery bat-tery with Sargent on first, Adams on second, Tom Sterling on Third, Beutler at Short and George Davis, Da-vis, Joe Valentine, Reese Naegle and Ramond Callister handling the fielding chores. Next week end, Thursday and Friday, the Broncos tackle the other two teams of the southern division of the I C A C, Carbon and Snow, respectively. According to Coach Petty, Naegle, Nae-gle, who has already won two for the Broncos, will start against Carbon Thursday afternoon with I game time set for 3 o clock. The Snow-B A C encounter will also be slated for a 3 p. m. opening on Friday. Both Snow and Carbon will tackle Dixie the same week end with Snow at Dixie on Thursday and Carbon meeting the Rebels on Friday. It is reported that the Snow college squad is well manneo tnis year and may furnish some of the stiffest competition fr the Broncos. Coach Jim Williams of Snow will bring his squad against the Rebels for a warm-up warm-up before tackling the Broncos next Friday.
