Show O ff Parowan Votes To Expand To Three Wards At a special membership meeting meet-ing of the Parowan East and West wards, called by the Parowan Paro-wan Stake Presidency Sunday evening, a vote was taken which resulted in a decision to make three wards out of the two now existing in the community. While the move had been un-dei un-dei consideration and study by the stake presidency and high council for several months, the first indication that it was being conlemplated came through a notice of the Sunday meeting in last week's Parowan Times. The reaction to the proposition proposi-tion by most of the members of the wards seems to be unfavorable. unfavor-able. But after the details of the division were given by Stake President W. Clair Rowley and the proposed boundaries of the three wards were given, the sentiment sen-timent changed somewhat. Under the proposed change the East ward will remain much as it is because of its contemplated contem-plated building program. It will consist of all of the city East of Main street and will lose only the two blocks west of Main street between the East ward chapel and the south edge of town. All of the city west of Main street will comprise the new wards, or what has been the West ward and the area taken from the East ward. Tills section will be divided almost equal, with the division line running from the Library corner west on Center street two blocks, then north one block to 1st North, thence west to the city limits. The population of each ward will be as follows: East ward 561 members; Southwest, 450, and Northwest, 496. The division will cause a big reorganization program in the npw wards from the bishoprics thiough all ward auxiliaries. Not so many changes will be needed in the East ward, with the M I A organizations affected most. . While it is definite that the division will be made, no time has been set as yet by stake authorities for the consumation of the program. |
