Show No Need For Alarm Over State Highway Survey Members of the City Planning Commission announce that a large number of property owners have become be-come alarmed over the activities of state road commission survey within the city limits, and have issued is-sued a statement that there is no need for alarm or even investigation investiga-tion at this time. Property owners have assumed that whenever the surveyors have crossed a piece of property it means that the proposed new superhighway super-highway will follow that route. It is true that surveys are being made In connection with routing that highway through Cedar City, but no action will be taken on any proposed pro-posed route, commission members report, until extensive hearings have been held and every property owner fully advised of what plans are being considered. The State Road Commission has e greed to recognize the desires of the city In routing the highway through or around Cedar City, providing pro-viding the route selected meets Federal Fed-eral highway requirements, with regards re-gards to maximum grade, turns or curves, cost of construction ari cost of right-of-way, etc. In keeping keep-ing with this agreement a number of tentative routes are being surveyed sur-veyed in ord"r that all data on these matters can be accumulated. At least six routes through the city will be surveyed it is reported, and after all data Is assembled thought will be given to selecting the best anu most feasible one. Assurance is given that the complete com-plete data will be made available to everyone Interested, and every property owner will be given a chance to voice his opinion either for or against any proposed route. ' Construction on such a highway cannot start in less than five or ten years, but is it Important that preliminary study be given to the question of routing the highway through a city, and it is with this in mind that the present surveys are being made. |
