Show County School Teachers Hold Constitution Meeting at Summit The liktorlc old ward church at Summit became a lively convention! hall last Wednesday night when 75 Iron County school teachers gathered gath-ered to ratify their new constitution. The meeting opened with several songs led by Edward Sandgren. The constitution was read and explained by Kirk Daly and then ratified and signed by all the members. The purpose of the Iron County Teachers' Teach-ers' Association, according to the constitution, Is "to promote the cause of education, and to advance and dignify the profession of teach ing." The usual corps of officers Is I provided for but a new board ot directors is added which consists ot one representative from, each school having ten teachers or major fraction frac-tion thereof. This board has full-governing full-governing powers. Other Items of business Included Includ-ed a motion to contribute one dollar dol-lar each to the Overseas Teacher Relief fund. A report from the Professional Pro-fessional Relations Committee told of classes being organized to help teachers obtain certificates or college col-lege degrees. The social committee rnmnnsprf nf Elmer f!n 7nnn Tnn ham, Cora Foster, Mattle Booth and Verna Dee Bell served popcorn and apples. In addition to this committee there are three other standing com. mlttees. Their membership is: Public Pub-lic Relations: Lorln Miles, Frank Patton, Morris Buhanan, Nona Brown and Carol Johnson; Professional Profes-sional relations: Mary McMillan, John Pendleton, Clifton Chatterley, Bee Roberts and Elizabeth Beck-strom; Beck-strom; Contracts and salaries: A. B. Larson, Max Dolley, - Helen Stones, Ether Stuckl and Nellie Hlg- bee. A program of activities for the association includes a dance at Enoch, a trip to the Iron Mines and other important points in the school district. Table decorations for the opening dinner, and other expressions expres-sions of hospitality are being prepared pre-pared by the Association for the important im-portant teachers' convention being held in Cedar City this week-end. Officers of the Association are: i President Zoe R. Palmer, vice president pres-ident Clauds Adams, secretary, Mlrlan Luke, and Delegates to the UEA, Kirk Daly and Wilford Clark. |
