Show Tentative Plans Made For Christmas Lighting Program Final arrangements are now being be-ing made for an extensive Christmas Christ-mas Lighting and Christmas Activity Activ-ity program sponsored by the Junior Jun-ior Chamber of Commerce Christmas Christ-mas Lighting Committee, headed by W. S. "Dub" Leigh, chairman Tentative plans call for the Main Street lights to be officially turned on November 30, at a special 25 minute radio broadcast coming from ..he Thorley Motor Company showroom, show-room, at which time Donna Jean Southwick, Miss Utah, will turn the lights on. Other outstanding numbers num-bers on this program will Include choral numbers by the Junior Choir, musical numbers by Corry Olson and his orchestra and numbers by outstanding soloists of the city. Following this special ceremony, .he lights will be turned on ant all merchants on Main Street will remain open tor a two hour period per-iod at which time they will hold open house to the hundreds of residents res-idents of Cedar City and vicinity who are expected to attend. Other features of the city-wide Christmas lighting program Include a lighting contest for both residen tial and business houses, with prizes of $15, $10 and $5 given for first, second and third prize winners. Rules to govern this contest are now being made by the committee in charge and will be made public pub-lic In the near .future. The lights across main street will be strung Sunday, and all Junior Chamber of Commerce members and all others who would like to help in this work, are asked to come out during the day and help. The lighting project will include placing plnon pine' trees on Main street, the candles on the light poles and stringing the lights overhead. At the present time the group is attempting attempt-ing to secure enough outdoor lighting light-ing sets to light up a large outdoor Christmas tree. |
