Show REAPER GALLS I. C. MACFARLANE Death Comes aa Happy Release from Long and Painful Siege of Severe Suffering. At 7:30 o'clock last Sunday morning morn-ing death released Isaac Chaunccy Macfarlane from n long siege of suffering suf-fering covering sovoral years. He was a victim of sonic form of a malignant ma-lignant growth on his Jaw, which was something of a puzzle to tho doctors and surgeons who treated his case. Three different operations were performed per-formed for tho removal of tho growth, but It each time returned shortly after af-ter the wound of tho operation had healed.' Ho suffered intsneely at times but was patient and for a long while remained cheerful. The funeral was held in the tabernacle taber-nacle last Tuesday afternoon, and was attended by a large audienco of the friends and acquaintances of tho deceased. Tho speakers woro Bishops Matheson and Foster, Win. II. Corry and H. W. Lunt. The remarks 'wero" encouraging and sympathetic, and an excellent spirit prevailed. Speciul .musical numbers were contributed by some of the best local talent. There were many floral offerings, nnd everything every-thing went to show the respect in which tho community held tho deported deport-ed brother nnd friend. "Chauncey" -this is tho name by which he was familiarly known, was born in this city on tho 29th day of March, 1850, making him 40 years of ISAAC CHAUNCEY M'CFARLANE. age last March. Ho grew up in this place, and Cedar City has always been his home. His parents wero Daniel and Keturah Macfarlane. The father prccoded him to the other sido a year or more ago, but tho mother is still living. He is also survived by a wife, five children, and several brothers and sisters. Tho deceased was a useful person in tho community. Always possessed of a good voice, his Bweet music has entertained local people upon many hundreds of ocensions, and many a soul has taken Its flight to the other shore on tho sweet notes that he has furnished. He was possessed of exceptional ex-ceptional dramatic ability, and was always a star in tho local troupes when he took part, us he frequently did, Ho was always generous, big hoart-od hoart-od and kind. Was idolized by his family through all his suffering, and goes to a well merited rest. Tho Record sympathizes deeply with his littlo family, loft unprotected by his untimely death. |
