This means the expenditure of approximately $750,000 and the reclamation of 20,000 acres of land in Beaver county. What the entire proposition means to Utah is a matter that runs into" still larger figures. For some years past the Beaver irrigation project has been in litigation, the various parties to suits and disagreements disagree-ments being the Beaver Irrigation Irriga-tion & Power company, the Beaver Bea-ver County Land company, the Minersville Reservoir & Irrigation Irriga-tion company and a number of individual interests. The project contemplates the building of a reservoir that will hold 30,000 acre feet' of water and the construction of main and, branch canals from fifty to sixty miles in extent. The reservoir res-ervoir will be constructed on the Beaver river, seven miles east of Minersville. The land to be watered lies between the tracks, of the Salt Lake route and the foothills to the east of Milford and js as fertile as any land to be found in the state. The reservoir reser-voir will have a dam sixty-five feet high and will cover 1800 acres of land. . Messrs.' Snow and Moody already al-ready have a crew at work upon surveying and other details but this force will at once be largely increased and every possible effort will be made to have the project completed on or before the first of the coming year. The lands are in great demand and all that is now lacking is to rrange for the furnishing of water. What the project means in its enjiir.qty , to, Utah runs fo far 'into ' big ,, figures that jt is largely a matter of conjecture. However, it means the addition of a vast empire to the agricultural agricul-tural and horticultural areas of the state. |
