Show PAROWAN The many friends of George H. Durham will be pleased to hear that he has been awarded a scholarship in composition for the cominp year at the New England Conservatory of Music at Boston. This is a golden op. portunily for Mr. Durham to tako a course in composition under one of America's greatest musicians and composers, George W. Chadwick, director di-rector of the Conservatory. Ho also attends the Nationul Educational convention con-vention at New York as the guest of Professor Cole, who is a former instructor in-structor of Mr. Durham's. S. Gurr purchased a TTrodgc car from Mr. Halterman recently re-cently and is well pleased with his car. 0 n P. P. flruhn has just returned from a three months stay at some of the northern shearing points. Mr. Bruhn , takes over the management of the ' Orton Hotel next Monday morning and will handle the bakery and cafe across the street in connection with the hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pritchard and ' daughter Golden spent the Twenty- Fourth in St. George. , Parowan has been visited with sev eral drenching rain storms during the past week, accompanied with some thunder and lightning. Last Tuesday shortly after noon several flashes of lightning came uncomfortably close t tearing through Oscar M. Lyman's house and smashing a mirror. Several Sever-al telephone poles were split west of town. Most of us do not relish .such electrical storms. James C.
