Show A DRY CHRISTMAS JJV' have frequently heard the remark during the holidays, "Pretty dry Christmas!" or "Did you ever see such a dry Christmas?" As to J whether the remark had reference to the climatic condition, whether it had reference to a lack of amusement, or whether the absence of spiritous drinks was meant, has been largely a matter of conjecture, with the personality of the speaker furninshing the only index. However, no matter which phase the speaker has had in mind, we have been able to agree with i him or her perfectly. At least so far as our per sonal experiences are concerned, although with some of those who have been frequenting the race course recently there does not appear to have been and serious derth of moistures for the inners. There appears to have been a derth of social parties and functions of every kind, and until the married people's ball last night, there was little or nothing of a social nature for benedicts. However, How-ever, now that the ice is broken, we trust that the social whirl pool may be kept agitated su'lic-iently su'lic-iently to prevent it from freezing up again. As to the climatic conditions, we certainly must admit that during the thirty days that we have resided in Cedar City we have seen nothing to compare. For a few days past the sky has appeared ap-peared cloudy and threatening, but nothing has COmeTof it. It doesn't really seem like Christmas, with the ground dry and dust and the weather so warm and balmy. |
