Show THE ROUND-UP H RESOLUTIONS. H The Following Resolutions Have Been Unanimously Passed Hl By Farmers' Round-up. fll 1. Wo rccognizo that ono of the H greatest needs of tho farmers of Utah H is somo form of rural banks in order BH that the farmer may obtain money p M either through his own co-oporation, f M or from outsido sources at n reason- jH ablo rato of interest. At tho present, t H farm loans cannot bo obtained in tho H State for less than eight to ten per H cent. In Eomo caBcs farmers havo B been obliged to pay ten per cent for H a period of ten years and tho loan is H not payable beforo tho expiration of H this timo unless a bonus has been H paid. Local banks havo been unablo jl to loan for a longer period thnn thrco H to six months at a rate of interest H varying from eight to ton per cent. H This condition has retarded the H giowth and development of our State H to a great extent. H Bo it therefore resolved, that wo H urge our congressional rcprcsenta- H tlves at Washington to use their best H efforts to secure passago of a federal H law which will establish rural banks H under federal control, based upon tho 1 principle that bonds may do issueu , h and sold undor federal protection, H which bonds shall bo secured by farm H mortgages. H 2. Wo rccognizo tho effective work H of tho Utah Fruit Growers' Association H during tho past year. H Bo it therefore Resolved, that we H I urge the fruit growers of tho State ' H I of Utah to investigate and to help V 1 I establish ths genulno co-operativo ' H (work, and we trust that this associa- f H tlon will extend its work, or a. similar -'. ' flH to cducato them, by demonstrating to Al them their mistakes on thoir farms fl nd in their homes; by protecting them ill from loss; by urging them to better Vl and moro effective work. Be it therefore resolved that wo Fl strongly recommend a continuation ! and enlargement of this work to such ll an extent that every farmer in tho f .B State may como in personal contact HflYJ with tho farm demonstrator. Wo H further commond tho work of tho Ag- l-l ricultural Extension Department in their effort to establish co-operation H among tho farmers of our State, and H we plcdgo ourselves to givo this de- H partment our assistance nnd support, iH believing as wo do that our futuro 'fl welfare depends largely upon Intel- H ligent co-operativo work. 4. Wo recognize that in tho past fl tho farmers of the State of Utah havo fl done great injury to our markets, Hj both local and farm, by not properly standardizing their products, by ship- H ping inferior articles as first class. Il Bo it therefore resolved that wo lfl condemn in the strongest terms such HHH practice and pledgo ourselves to uso HHI ovory effort to correct this condition BIH and carefully guard and protect tho HKhI roputation of all products raised in fllfll gflfl 5.
